As little girls, my sister Janet and I were blessed to enjoy all genres of music. Daddy is an ethnomusicologist and Mommie loves music! For as long as we can remember, James Brown was a favorite. We listened intently to every lyric of each song, and when we heard, ‘preacher’s daughter” in “Ain’t It Funky Now,” we decided that would be the title of our book when we got older. As we grew into adults and became parents, time lapsed, and we still hold on to that dream, even though, in obedience to God, I began the book series in 2017.
As Daddy’s retirement date drew closer, we both had separate conversations with Daddy, unbeknownst to either of us. Both of us shared our desire to carry out his legacy of spiritual and cultural sojourns to African countries. He told us he would pour everything he could into us to ensure we were equipped to do just that. It is our desire to have him share in the celebration of the fruits of his labor while he is yet with us.
We look forward to you joining us as we launch the Jeremiah Wright Legacy Spiritual and Cultural Sojourns. Experience the wisdom of this prophet in 2025, as we prepare to take a journey akin to the sojourns of the 1980s through 2008. We have many surprises in store for the sojourners you do not want to miss.
